New Jersey Commission’s Website Show Comps

February 7th, 2009 admin Casinos 0

casinoWith the present situation Atlantic City (AC) casinos must feel as if the entire world is closing in on them. The reason is that each day more terrible news is delivered to those casinos. The end result of that horrible news can be the end of casino gambling. The recent week a new plan has been released in New Jersey by gaming regulators. According to the plan anybody will be able to see the comps that AC casinos have given out over the month. The Casino Control Commission’s Chairwoman Linda M. Kassekert, said “Providing this data in a timelier manner will increase transparency and allow analysts and the general public to better understand the gaming industry.”

More to the point, it is the opening year that the figures will be shown on the Commission’s website. But till 2008, casinos only had to report their promotional spending on per quarterly basis. The recent rules could lead to less comps from these casinos. This is the comps that have been usually used to lure in high roller gamblers. Those casinos have been able to mask much of the comps in the past. That time free hotel rooms with food are common for every gambler who spend handsome amount of money at the casinos. But at this time, with the economy in dire straights and world business recession, it will be very difficult for these casinos to show that they are giving so much away as claiming that they are losing money. Observer Nicholas Devereax said “If these casinos have to show all of their comps on a monthly basis it is certainly going to lead to the casinos cutting back on giving away free stuff.”  Now the casinos owners are thinking what will be their future business plan.
