Because of the ease of gambling online and the amount of online casinos available, it may be easier to become addicted to gambling than it would be in a typical casino.  Unless you live in Las Vegas, Atlantic City or near a casino, logistically speaking, it may be difficult to get to a casino and gamble in a live setting and therefore, you will not be able to do it as much and not develop an addiction to gambling.

When you can sit at home in your pajamas and gamble online as much as you want, you may become addicted to the games you are playing.  I am an online poker player and have seen how many people become obsessed with online gambling after winning their first tournament or large cash game.  Many think that online gambling is a great way to get rich and that it is easy for them to make a lot of money.  I have seen these same people who win a lot of money, lose it all just a quickly because they did not take care and learn when to walk away from the game for a while before the money the won, and more money the deposited was all gone.

If you decide to gamble at an online casino, never play when you are losing a lot.  That is the time to quit even if you think that next pull of the slots or the next black jack hand will get you some of your money back.  It is better for you to just shut it down and come back another day when you are refreshed and not losing so much, what poker players call being on tilt.  This is basically betting in a crazy manner because you are angry you are losing.  This will do nothing but empty your wallet and make more money for the casinos.   If you feel you are not in control, step away from the computer, go for a walk , talk to your spouse, or take a hot shower and forget about gambling for a while.
